2020 - Our first vintage
2020 was a very good vintage in Burgundy, which is already being praised today. The grapes for the wines were harvested super healthy and were already super tasty as grapes when they were harvested. This is the basic requirement for an excellent wine that needs to be celebrated! The grapes for our wines were harvested by hand from selected vineyards.
Later they were selected again in the Maison, carefully processed and fermented and matured for 15 months in used barrels from the high-quality barrel manufacturers Chassin and Francois Freres (used by Romanee-Conti and Armand Rousseau, among others) in Burgundy. In the subsequent ageing process, further maturation took place in steel tanks and bottles.
In this year, we produced three appellations and a total of around 1,250 bottles, which sold out within just 24 hours after release.
2020 Bourgogne Chardonnay „Les Perrieres“ | 750 ml
The Vineyard "Les Perrières" is beautifully situated north-west in the hills above Savigny Les Beaune. From here you can see as far as Beaune. Surrounded by trees, my vines are on the "higher" part of this hill. This results in a wine with a fresh coolness and finesse with great minerality as the differences between day and night temperatures can be noticeable. The wine has a clear identity because of its name: Perrières, which roughly translates to "pile of stones" or "quarry", and keeps its promise. Citrus notes, apple, some grated lime zest, roasted hazelnut and a hint of brioche. The same citrus notes, hints of honey, brioche and some vanilla come through on the palate, layered with stone fruit and chalk. A balanced and lively wine with great energy and a clear clean finish made for aging. Enjoy!
2020 Côte de Nuits Villages „Préau“ | 750 ml
This 100% Pinot Noir comes from vines planted in the Préau vineyard, in Brochon. The vineyard has a gentle slope and the rows are between 275 meters and 292 meters above sea level. The soil consists of limestone marl and clay. Brochon is beautifully situated in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin. The rows from which my wine comes are in the upper part of Préau, just a few meters from the Fixin Premier Cru vineyard "Clos du Chapitre". The soil and exposure of Préau are similar to those of the neighboring Gevrey Village vineyards. The wine is filigrane, complex and has a great length. A lovely nose of blackberries, violets, cherries and minerality of the calcareous soil. There is also some liquorice, white pepper and beautiful wood notes such as vanilla and coconut. Fantastically structured in the mouth with soft, round tannins and an enormous length. The enchanting and playful acidity supports the wine tremendously. The seventy-year-old vines deliver on the same level as their world-famous neighbors... super delicate and elegant... A dream from the Cote de Nuits.
