2023 - Mature but fresh

For us, the 2023 vintage was one of the best in Burgundy in recent years. It combines maturity, complexity, freshness and elegance. The 2023 vintage, like the 2022 vintage, produced very good, complex and elegant wines. However, as already mentioned, with even better freshness and elegance. 2023 was again a warm and dry vintage with good harvest quantities. Compared to 2021 and 2024, this produced perfectly ripe, concentrated and elegant wines with very good ageing potential. In contrast to 2021 and 2024, the 2023 vintage was a generous vintage. In 2023, as in 2022, the grapes were able to achieve perfect phenolic ripeness without any major problems or diseases. We saw a rather mild winter, followed by a damp and cooler spring. We started a great year with a successful flowering. The summer was also dry and warm with a few rains to produce super beautiful grapes. This meant that we were once again able to harvest wonderful grapes and produce excellent wines. What a vintage!!!

Another good news is that with the 2023 vintage there will once again be more different cuvees at Maison Meyer. In 2023 we can offer a Bourgogne Aligoté, another Aligoté from Meursault, a Bourgogne Chardonnay, a Côte-de-Nuits-Villages Blanc (Chardonnay - villages wine), a Savigny-lès-Beaune (village wine) and two Côte-de-Nuits-Villages Rouge (village wine).

As always, the grapes for the 2023 red wines were hand-selected and fermented in large open barrels or steel tanks. The white wines were fermented in Pièces (Burgundian barriques). The wine was partly aged in new Francois Freres or Chassin Pièce barrels or in used barrels from Chassin, Francois Freres, Damy or Seguin Moreau. As described, further maturation takes place in steel tanks and bottles, so that the wines will be ready for delivery around May 2025. This time the wine is corked with the very high-quality DIAM 30 or Origine 30 by DIAM corks.

(“...the tests carried out by Diam Bouchage in collaboration with the Pure Environnement laboratory confirm a stability of the mechanical qualities that can be guaranteed for 30 years...”)

This still means no cork taint and bio-based closures...YAY...and then the bottles are sealed by hand with wax for longer storage. This year, the labels are again made of ultra-premium paper. We remain true to our quality standards, even though raw material prices have continued to rise enormously... We want you to recognize, feel and taste the quality of the wine.

2023 Bourgogne Aligoté  | 750 ml

2023...an assemblage from different locations - this Aligoté stands for a wonderful, complex and immediately drinkable Aligoté. A great fruit, complexity and a long finish characterize this Aligoté.

A magnificent wine with ripe citrus fruits, herbs, complexity, good structure and length.

2023 Aligoté Meursault "Les Corvees"  | 750 ml

2023... Aligote from Meursault!!! - Aligoté in the premier class. "Les Corvees" is located in the valley of Meursault in the Côte-d'Or with limestone soils. Coolness, complexity and a typical concentration with this austere style, that is what characterizes this Aligoté.

A magnificent wine with citrus fruit, herbs, complexity, good structure and length. Unfortunately only too few bottles...

2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay  | 750 ml

2023…Bourgogne Chardonnay from the south of Burgundy. Much more than a Bourgogne Chardonnay. It was already touted as a Meursault at a professional blind tasting. Cool, light reduction, herbs and complexity.

2023 Côte de Nuits-Villages - blanc - "Au Clou" Chardonnay  | 750 ml

2023 is an absolutely AWESOME vintage for this Côte de Nuits-Villages Chardonnay from the Au Clou vineyard. To be honest, this wine gave us a lot of work during fermentation. Phew... But the result? Flint, sparse fruit, complexity and that sanity in the finish. Simply unbelievable for a Côte de Nuits-Villages Blanc!!!

The vineyard is near Comblanchien and produces taut, elegant and mineral Chardonnays that are characterized by a very nice depth. Like last year... Pretty serious, as one connoisseur already noted, and unfortunately the last vintage in this vineyard.

Our Reds

2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune "Les Planchots de la Champagne" Pinot Noir  | 750 ml

The second vintage for Savigny-lès-Beaune at Maison Meyer. Another incredibly expressive Pinot Noir from the Les Planchots de la Champagne vineyard. And what an expression. The wine once again jumps out of the glass with its 100% destemmed berry fruit so enormously floral. A DREAM!!! Even more delicate in this vintage than in 2022. The vineyard is near the small, beautiful town of Savigny-lès-Beaune near Corton. We love this wine and in our opinion it is the wine that you should open "young" with your friends. But it can just as easily mature a little more.

2023 Côte de Nuits-Villages - rouge - "Les Platières" Pinot Noir  | 750 ml

The debut vintage of this fine and complex wine. A brilliantly cool, Amarena cherries, deep, concentrated, elegant and long Pinot Noir from the Les Platières vineyard. This vineyard is stonier than its sister En Chantemerle. Also 100% destemmed and violet, dark, herbal, fresh, deep and complex. This Côte de Nuits-Villages shines with enormously clear fruit. This is Pinot as it should be. Something for enthusiasts. Slightly reductive with the need to be decanted or cellared for a while.

The vineyard is in the southern Côte de Nuits-Villages near Comblanchien. If you read carefully you'll quickly see that we love this region. A region with enormous potential.

2023 Côte de Nuits-Villages - rouge - "En Chantemerle" Pinot Noir  | 750 ml

Once again an enormously complex, deep and long Pinot Noir from the En Chantemerle vineyard. 100% destemmed and structured, deep, long-lasting and yet delicate, like a ballerina. Even fresher in 2023 with a brilliant acidity. This Côte de Nuits-Villages shines with an equally enormously clear fruit. This is Pinot as we love it. The vineyard is in the southern Côte de Nuits-Villages near Comblanchien. Like all wines, the wine is reductively vinified and requires the longest storage time or an enormous amount of air. Only then does it unfold its full potential. Sooo brilliant, this wine can, in our opinion, play at the top.
